The Paris correspondent of "The Times states that it has often been asked why English horses are barred from all French classics except the Grand Prix de Paris. The rule barring foreign horses from French classics was made m 1833 as a means of protecting French breeding, but it was felt that after the success of French horses in England this season, French breeding needs no further protection.
