It is practically certain that the Melrose Handicap at the Auckland Racing Ciub s mid-spring meeting on November 9, will have to be run in two divisions because the field of 46 is 19 above the safety limit of 27 at the seven-furlong post. Provision will afso have to be made for two divisions in the Takapuna Handicap, m which the field is three above the safety number of 26 at the mile and a quarter post.
