SEALING SEASON IN N.Z.

6187 SKINS BROUGHT BACK (P.A.) WELLINGTON. November 1. Although the main hunting grounds on sub-Jintarctic islands remained closed, the first sealing permitted in New Zealand waters for 22 years brought a catch of 6187 skins for the season. It is not intended that there shall be an open season next year. Because of the depredations oi hunters, rookeries were in danger of extinction when the ban was imposed 22 years ago.
