STYX-SOCKBURN RAILWAY
Sir, —With regard to the changing of the northern railway from passing through the suburbs, I may say that I am gratified to hear of it: but to shift it out only as far as Ha reword is, I think, only a waste of time and of money. When that railway was first built it was out of town, but look at it now—houses all round it. Already many houses are being built on Burnside and Harewood roads, so that in another 10 to 15 years houses will be built round that railway, just as they are round the present one. T suppose the present Government realises that* when that time comes it will probably not be in power: but all the same I think it should use a little consideration.—Yours, etc., THINKING OF THE FUTURE. . October 29. 1946.
