'* The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON, October 30. Conditions were almost ideal at Heretaunga for the qualifying rounds of the Wellington provincial women’s golf championship. The best golf of the day was played by’Miss Z.. Hudson (Christchurch), who returned two cards of 79. Miss C. Smith (Invercargill), who, with Miss Hudson, won the New Zealand women’s foursomes title at Shirley this month, was impressive with a beautifully natural swing. On two occasions in the afternoon round her ball stayed on the lip of the hole from 40 feet. Her rounds were 83 and 84. The clubs teams match, played in conjunction with the afternoon round, was won by Christchurch with a four-player aggregate of 338. The team was: Miss Hudson 79, Miss H. Bucnanan 82, Miss V. Fleming 87, and Mrs C. J. Ward 90. The first 16 qualified for the championship, the first and second round matches of which will be played to-morrow. They were: Miss Hudson, 79, 79—158; Miss Smith, 83. 84—167; Miss Hornabrook (Masterton), 87. 81—168; Miss Buchanan I (Christchurch), 90. 82—172; Mrs Crombie| (Wellington), 85. 90—175; Mrs Whatley' (Wellington), 92, 84—176; Miss Fleming! (Christchurch). 89, 87j-176; _Mrs Hatock I (Miramar), 90. 87—1*7; Miss E. Nutt (Christchurch). 87, 90—177; Mrs Hutchinson (Gisborne). 85, 82—177; Mrs Toomey (Christchurch), 91, 87— 1g 7 ; c J..
