RFPLIfcS TO REMITS
“Replies to remits presented recently to thfe Actihg*Mihister of Education, the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, by the New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association,
indicate a hopeful position with regard to improvements in school conditions,” says a statement issued by the association. “The reply to the refjUest for better heating and cleaning of schools is that it is the Government’s wish to improve thfe standard, and the increasing of grants for this is now receiving the Ministers attention. “The provision of more equipment iS receiving the attention of the department. Much infant material has been supplied, and more is being manufactured and Will be distributed to schools. In new schools wall board is installed. . .< “As soon as mote teachers are avail* able, it is hoped to introduce a more liberal Staffing schedule. This would affofd a measure of relief for the infant mistress ih hfer duties of supervision and direction of work throughout her department.”
