BIG SHARK CAUGHT AT ONEHUNGA

“ The Press ' Special Service AUCKLAND, September 23. Reported to be the largest landed at Onehunga for many years, a shark, believed to be a mako, and measuring 10ft Bin in length, was caught by Mr L. Peterson, of Quadrant road, Onehunga. on Saturday night. The tail measured 2ft Bin across and the fins were 2ft long. Mr Peterson was fishing alone from the launch Regal on the Wgiau shell

bank, off Graham’. Beach. The shark took the bait about 10 p.m. in 10ft of water, and fought desperately tor the remainder of the night Mr Peterson tied the line to the launch, and when the shark had finished fighting he towed it to Onehunga, arriving at the wharf yesterday morning. A smaller fish, believed to be a ground shark, which measured nearly 9ft in length, was also landed. Many sharks have been seen in the Manukau Harbour in recent weeks, and a very large one which could not be identified was seen swimming close to the end of the Onehunga wharf yesterday afternoon.
