LOCATION OF INDUSTRIES
Sir,—The recent controversy between the Mayor of Timaru, Mr A. E. S. Hanan, and the Mayor of Christchurch, Mr E. H. Andrews, revealed that both were keen ,to advance their respective cjties and rightly have industries in the South Island. They both are at a disadvantage with Mr Nash, who can offer houses and luxuries galore at the taxpayers’ expense to herd Communist-controlled voters to his electorate. Mr Hanan made a tactical blunder when he wanted the Internal Marketing Division dehydration white elephant in Timaru. Much like boasting of our fine warehouses, harbours, town halls, gaols, hospitals, and mental hospitals. Mr Savage boasted of the amount spent on liquor and horse racing. The Internal Marketing Division dehydration plant guarantees 100 per cent germination test of seeds of discontent. The crop will be harvested on election day.—Yours, etc., E. K. BANFIELD. Rangiora, September 19, 1946.
