CABIN AEROPLANE PURCHASED
DRAGONFLY OBTAINED BY AERO CLUB
The Canterbury Aero Club has completed the purchase of a Dragonfly aircraft from Air Travel (N.Z.), Ltd., and will take delivery of the machine as soon as it has undergone an overhaul for the renewal of its certificate of airworthiness for 12 months. This information was released yesterday by the president of the club (Mr H. D. Christie). A spare engine and a spare propeller will be included in the transaction, and the club will also be able to purchase .such spares as may be desired from the stock held by the company. . The machine is a dual-engined aircraft, fitted with Gipsy Major engines with self-starters. It is also fitted with radio. Besides the pilot, it carries five passengers, and the club proposes to use it for passenger-carying work, including joy-riding, as well as for the benefit of advanced pilots, especially those with cbnsiderable experience of multi-engined machines during war service with the Air Force, of whom there are many in the club. The purchase of such a machine will fit in with the club’s policy of having standardised engines as far as possible, as the enginfes will be interchangeable with those of other aircraft owned by the club. The acquisition of the Dragonfly will bring the total of the club’s machines to nine.
