SQUATTER MOVEMENT IN CALCUTTA
ACTION BY HOMELESS TRAMWAYMEN
CALCUTTA, September 22. Twenty-five tramwaymen who are homeless because of the riots introduced the squatter movement to Calcutta. For their new home they chose the unoccupied part of a house belonging to a tramway official. They are among 1500 tramwaymen whose houses were destroyed, burned, or abandoned because of danger during the riots.
