The West Coast ports resumed activity to-day and the first sailings are expected to-morrow. The leader of thd American Federation of Labour pilots, masters, and mates branch (captain H. F. May)’ said thafrin view of the settlement of their dispute with the C.LO. seamen over clearance permits, members were returning to their ships, but might walk off on September 30 -if a new«wages contract was not secured.
