ACCIDENTS

DRIVER KILLED WHEN TRUCK HITS BRIDGE (P.A.) GISBORNE, September 20. When a light truck struck the side of a bridge at-Rototahi, East'Coast, shortly after midnight, the driver was killed and a passenger injured. Uour others escaped with a shaking. The men were:— Killed Harold Hale, aged 51, married, a farmer, of Bridges. Injured Oscar Olsen, married, broken wrist. BLOWN OVER BY GALE RANGIORA RESIDENT INJURED Mrs C. I. Jennings, aged 82, of Ashley street, Rangiora, suffered injuries to one of her legs when she was blown over in the back-yard of her home early yesterday afternoon by the force of the north-westerly gale. Mrs Jennings, who also suffered from shock, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. It was stated early this morhing that she had been placed on the seriously ill list. Mr and Mrs Jennings recency celebrated their golden wedding in Rangiora. FOOTBALLER BREAKS LEG James Greig, of 34 Eversleigh street, fractured a leg when playing in the senior Rugby match between Christchurch and Technical Old Boys at Lancaster Park on Saturday afternoon. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. His condition last night was reported to be satisfactory.
