PROGRESS OF DEMOBILISATION OF SERVICES

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, September 20. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) expressed satisfaction that the demobilisation of the Dominion’s war-time forces would be completed this month, after which only volunteers will be enrolled. By Monday, said Mr Jones, all naval personnel with the exception of six officers retained because of special qualifications and 24 men on the sick list, would have received their discharge. He said that 225 had voluntarily agreed to defer mobilisation, and 95 had volunteered to sail in H.M.S. Achilles returning in H.M.S. Bellona, due in New Zealand about December In the Army and Air Force all the men who came in for war service ; y ou M-.,with very few exceptions, be demobilised by the end of the month.
