SEAMEN’S STRIKE IN JAPAN
SETTLEMENT REACHED (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) TOKYO, September 20. The 10 days’ Japanese seamen’s strike has been settled by an agreement in which the employers conceded all major points, including union participation in personnel matters. Wage increases were granted, averaging 35 per cent, for all men earning less than 500 yen a month and living allowances and an insurance fund for cultural activities.
