The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone is centred north of New Zealand. A trough of low pressure is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: winds moderate, north-easrerly on parts of the coast but mainly moderate to fresh north-westerly. Weather fair. Temperatures moderate to mild. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate north-easterly to northerly winds predominating. Weather cloudy, with occasional rain developing from the south. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and sunny, with a fresh easterly Wind. At 1 a.m. to-day the sky was clear and the north-west wind was very light. The barometer, at 29.81 inches (1009 Ji millibars) was steady.
