NEW ZEALAND SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP
THIRD ROUND PLAYED The third round of the New Zealand amateur snooker championship was played yesterday. J. Munro retains two lives, and. with Whitford and Smith, he will play in the semi-finals. If Munro wins both semi-finals, he will win the championship; two defeats will eliminate him. and one win will find him contesting the final. If Munro wins both his games, Whitford and Smith will play off to find the runner-up. The draw for the semi-final is:—Whitford v. Munro; Munro v. Smith. Play will be resumed this afternoon. Results:— R. Whitford (Canterbury) beat A. Bill£ n 8 to °- Scores: Whitford 58. 64, 70; Blllens, 38, 44, 31. J. Munro (Canterbury) beat F. Anson (Canterbury) by 3 games to 0. Scores: Munro, 58, 56, 68; Anson, 21, 41. 28. J. Munro (Canterbury) beat V. Choat (Canterbury) by 3 games to 1. Scores: Munro, 14, 74, 70. 61; Choat, 49, 52, 38, W. Smith (Canterbury) beat W. McCowatt (Auckland) by 3 games to 0. Scores: Smith, 60. 51, 52; McCowatt, 29, 28 22.
