N.S.W. DROUGHT BROKEN
Rain Over Wide Area FURTHER FALLS EXPECTED (NX. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 19. Drought-breaking rains have, been falling for the last 36 hours over thousands of square miles of parched northern New South Wales. They are expected to turn bare lands into pastures again and save scores of thousands of sheep. Falls averaging two inches, the best for 12 months, have already been re* corded over an area stretching from the northern tablelands far out on the plains. Further rain is expected, and meteorologists say that the drought can now be considered broken.
