MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
Sir,—Let us by all means have a first-dlass airport at Harewood. The South Island should see that its interests are advanced and that, so far as possible, we maintain our status with the North Island. The question of meeting the cost is one of the principal factors to be considered. Greater Christchurch should meet the bill if the Government will not do so. It is equally in the interests of all the residents of the metropolitan area—and the country districts as well—that we should have access to other parts of the world by modern communications. The burden should not fall solely upon the unfortunate ratepayers of our out-of-date city boundary. We already provide the residents of o.ther districts with free services in many directions; they should now bear their share of this proposed new aqd necessary work. —Yours, etc., CITIZEN.
