NEW YORK TRUCK DRIVERS
SOME TO RESUME WORK
(Rec. 9.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 17. The American Federation of Labour truck drivers have voted for a partial resumption of trucking activities. As a reault of the dispute heavy deliveries in New York have been brought almost to a standstill since September A separate agreement will have to be made with those employers willing to grant wage increases of 7J dollars a week and reduce hours from 44 to 40. Union leaders said they believed other employers would quickly follow The employers’ spokesman, however, said that 90 per cent, of the city’s trucking firms would maintain a united front and were determined not to sign individual contracts or grant the wage increases sought by the union.
