The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is *3 follows: Situation: a series of westerly depressions is passing eastwards in the south. There is a depression over ths north-east Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate and variable 1 winds. North-easterlies predominating on the coast. Weather fair. Temperatures cool. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate, variable winds. Weather cloudy with scattered showers in the south. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with light variable breezes. The maximum temperature was 58.9 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky wag clear, with a light north-east breeze. The barometer, falling, registered 29.75 inches (1007.5 millibars).
