DRESSING TO ORDER
A southern seed merchant was approached last season by a farmer with a line of browntop he wanted dressed in a hurry. The merchant agreed to do the job, and asked how the farmer wanted the seed dressed. “I want 98 purity, 90 germination,” said the farmer. The merchant was a little taken aback, but said the 98 would be easy enough, but he didn’t know about the 90. “Right,” said the farmer, “If you can’t get me the 90, I will take the line somewhere else to be dressed.”
