LOANS SOUGHT IN AUSTRALIA
SEVERAL EUROPEAN COUNTRIES (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) ADELAIDE, Sept. 17. Several European countries have asked the Commonwealth Government for credits running into tens of millions of pounds, mainly to buy Australian wool, said the Prime Minister (Mr Chifiey). It is believed that Australia will be able to make some loans and the Government is examining the position. Mr Chifiey said he could not yet disclose the names of the countries concerned.
