ARMY PREMISES OCCUPIED
SQUATTERS’ ACTION IN CANADA
(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, Sept. 15. By a swift invasion of empty Army premises, the newly-formed veterans’ Housing League in the last 10 days settled more than 100.000 persons. Six famiUes to-day were placed in vacant barracks on Porter’s . Island, near the mouth of the Rideau river. The league earlier commandeered two large residences in the Sandy Hill district, which had just been vacated by members of the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, and settled 22 families in them. - The Army still controls the residences, and points out that families will have to move eventuaUy, but promises that they will not be put on the street *
