SUCCESSFUL CARNIVAL AND GYMKHANA

To raise funds for the erection of a clubroom and social centre, the Woolston Rugby League Football Club held a carnival and gymkhana on Saturday. Careful planning and fine weather made the carnival a success, the varied programme drawing a large crowd. Side-shows, a merry-go-round, athletic, and horse events were among the features. Mrs J. W. Groom’s Michael won the main horse event. The Woolston Brass Band was in attendance. The principal winners of gymkhana and horse events were the following:—Miss J. Cresswell (two firsts, one second), B. Jarden (two seconds). Miss H. Rich (one first, one second, one third), Miss J. Smith (three seconds, one first), H. Walker (two seconds).
