HUNTED NEGROES SURRENDER
LAST OF 14 INVOLVED IN AMBUSH (Rec. 9.45 p.m.) NEW YORK. Aug. 20. The last two of a group of 14 negroes who have been hunted by a posse of 200 or 300 police and citizens for the ambush and wounding of four white men on Sunday at Magee. Missisippi, have surrendered to the police at Jackson. After evading the posse and walking nearly 60 miles, Johnny Craft, one of the three negro brothers who took refuge in the Magee swamp, surrendered to the police at Jackson. He is a war veteran and is reputed to be the ringleader in the ambush on Sunday

Hampshire, first innings, 188 (Phillipson, five for 56); second innings, five for 174 declared. Lancashire, first innings. 151; second innings, 182 (Knott, six for 67). Hampshire won by 29 runs. Leicester, first innings, 380 (Vigar, eight for 169); second innings, seven for 139. Esgex, first innings, 360 (Taylor, 66 not out). The match was drawn. Warwick, first innings, 226; second innings. 241. Northants, first innings, 332 (Brookes 163). The match was drawn.
