THEFTS FROM CARGO

FOUR MEN SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 15. Four members of the crew of the Mahans were sentenced to 14 days’ gaol by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to-day for thefts from the ship's cargo. They were George Albert Charnock, aged 26, who stole cigarettes and tobacco, valued at £1 10s: Charles John Chaze, aged 19, cigarettes valued at £1; Phillip Edward Joyce, whisky valued at 16s 6d; and William George Sadler, aged 20, tobacco valued at 7s 6d.
