NEWS TRAFFIC CURTAILED
U.S. COMMUNICATIONS STRIKE NO REPORTS FROM PARIS (Rec, 7.30 p.m.) _ NEW YORK, August 13. The flow of overseas news has been seriously curtailed by the strike at Press Wireless, Incorporated, and the subsequent embargo on foreign news dispatches in other countries. The New York papers’ efforts to communicate with their correspondents at the Paris Conference were fruitless to-day when atmospheric conditions caused a breakdown in the trahsAtlantic telephone circuits. Even if the companies are able to transmit copy in spite of the American Communications Association, there will still be serious difficulty in printing it because the Newspaper Guild in NewYork has declared such copy “black.” The New York “Sun” says that Government officials are concerned over the interruption of the news flow, particularly the curtailment of news of the Paris Conference and the explosive situation in Palestine.
Officials explain that reports to the State Department are supplemented by regular news dispatches from abroad. Some news, particularly from Europe, continues to reach the United States, coming over the short-wave radio channels owned by the news services or over other leased cable facilities.
