WITHDRAWAL FROM EGYPT

Debate In House Of Commons

EDEN AND CHURCHILL ATTACK PLAN

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, May 8. Crave misgivings were felt, Mr Eden said, about the effect of the withdrawal on the future defence of the Suez Canal. Mr Herbert Morrison, replying for the Government, said that if Britain had refused to accept “the principle of withdrawal,’’ there would almost certainly have been disturbances, pnting and, possibly, revolution.
