OBITUARY
MR E. H. O’MEARA (PA.) AUCKLAND, M*y ». Mr Edward Harding O'Meara, who for 23 years was secretary of the Waikato Racing Club, died in Auckland to-day at the age of 74. He, waa well known in Dominion racing circles, and among businessmen in Hamilton, where he was a partner in the firm of Sanson and O’Meara. He resigned from the club about two years ago because of ill-health, and retired to Auckland. He is survived by Mre O’Meara.
MR JOHN HIGGINS
(P.A.) GREYMOUTH, May K The death occurred at Greymouth to-night of Mr John Higgins, O.BJL, aged 86 years, who for 62 years was engineer to the Grey County Council and a member of the council staff since 1880. He was responsible for tha roading of the whole of the county* and turned bush tracks into modern roads. He was regarded as a leading engineering authority on the West Coast He was a member of the British Institute, and was municipal and county engineer for 34 years. He was born at Woodspoint, Victoria. Hs is survived by his widow, four socMt and four daughters.
