ATTEMPT TO DERAIL TRAIN

<P.A.) DUNEDIN, May 8. A deliberate attempt was made to derail a goods train on the Kensington overbridge on Saturday morning. Wooden wedges were placed on the rails in such a manner that had the engine been derailed it would have crashed down into King Edward street. A& the engine came on, to, the bridge it tian on to the wedges and rocked violently, but fortunately remained on the rails. Wedges were also found in the points leading to the Hillside Workshops yard, but they were removed before they had interfered with the passage of rolling stock.
