DIAMOND WEDDING

MR AND MRS JOHN BUTLAND Mr and Mrs John Butland (25 James street. Timaru) yesterday received the congratulations of their friends on their diamond wedding. Their marriage took place at the Albury Presbyterian Church, South Canterbury, on May 6, 1886. the ceremony being performed by the Rev. William White -There are two sons of the marriage, Messrs John Henry Butland (Timaru). and William Richard Butland (Christchurch) Mrs Butland’s maiden name was Miss Maria Thorne.

Mr Butland started work with the New Zealand Railways to 1882, and retired from railway service 28 years ago.
