ACCOUNTANCY PASSES
CANTERBURY COLLEGE RECORD HIGH PERCENTAGE IN Many subjects Of 192 Canterbury University College students who presented themselves for examination in accountancy subjects 16st year 144 gained pass marks m at least orie subject, according to h report presented to the College Council by Mr C. C. Holland, director or studies in accountancy. These figures do not include war concession passes, and a few may- have been excluded from the statistics through having failed to obtain passes in two subjects at the same examination.
The number of accountancy students at the college presenting themselves for examination has increased from 79 in 1941 to 192 last year, the report states. Tabulated statistics show the numbers who sat for each subject and the numbers who passed. The percentages of passes by Canterbury College students in the various subjects, with the percentage of passes for the whole of New Zealand in parenthesis, are listed aS follows: Bookkeeping I 55.2 t 83.4); bookkeeping It 65.6 (44.6); nt - 419 auditing, 50 (31.9); trustee and bankruptcy law 93.8 (61.9); secretarial practice, 56.8 (44.3); compaby law, 42.6 (43.8); mercantile law I. 51.7 (50.8); mercantile law 11, 82.5 146.3).
"It seems clear from a peeusal of the summary of results that the tuition at the college is thoroughly satisfactory.” commented Mr Holland, after drawing attention to the outstanding results in trustee and bankruptcy law and mercantile law 11.
