WOMEN’S BOWLS
BECKENHAM RINK WINS FOURS CHAMPIONSHIP The Beckenham rink, comprising Mesdames Faulks (s), McDonald, Legge, and Bromley, won the fours championship at the annual tournament of the South Canterbury Women’s Bowling Centre at Timaru yesterday, beating Mesdames Henshaw (s), Arbuckle, Clark, and Hamlyn (Ashbury), 30 to IL Play in the singles and doubles championships was not concluded because Mrs McDonald had reached the semi-finals in all three championships, and consequently play was held up while she bowled in each section. The remaining two championships will be decided this morning.
CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW , The following is the draw for the championship of champions tournament of the Christchurch Ladies’ Bowling Centre:— Singles (Beckenham Green. March 12). —Mrs.Heward (United) v. Mrs Brandon (Spreydon), Mrs Wills (Shirley) v. Mrs Davies (Avon). Mrs Harold (Linwood) v. Mrs Faulks (Beckenham), Mrs Logie (Redcliffs) a bye. Pairs (Spreydon Green, March 13). Mesdames Austin and Heward (United) v. Mesdames McLean and Richardson (Beckenham), Mesdames Higgins and Le Lievre (Sydenham) v. Mesdames Preast and Harold (Linwood), Mesdames Pritchard and Duncan (Shirley) and Mesdames Wilkins and Hennessey (Sprevdon), byes. Fours (Sydenham Green, March 14). Mrs James (United) v. Mrs Richardson (Beckenham). Mesdames Harold (Linwood), Brandon (Spreydon). and Kay* (Shirley), byes.
REDCLIFFS CLUB, Championship matches were played by the Redcliffs Ladies’ Bowling Club recently and resulted as foliows :--Singles: Mrs C. Logie; doubles, Mesdames A. OlliveY and R. Ladbrooks (skip).
