ATOMIC BOMB TESTS

Sir,—Every peace-loving veteran in our land—and their names are legion—will applaud the United States War Veterans’ Association in its stand, deploring the planned atomic bomb test at Bekin atoll in the Marshalls. “We,” they say, “possess the most devastating of all power, and the world knows it.” The fact is that Uncle Sam holds a big whip over.-Russia and all mankind. Let him not crack it in their faces too often for the sake of the fear that it engenders; for fear is the precursor of war! The bomb has already been tested out on Japan with terrible conclusions. Another such test, even though it may only sink scores of ships and kill hundreds of animals, would not be instructive or helpful to world security.—Yours, etc., ™ 1 F - W - SOLLOWAY. March 1, 1946.
