CANNED PEAS AND BEANS

WHOLESALE AND RETAIL PRICES FIXED

Maximum wholesale and retail prices for canned fresh green peas and beans are fixed in price orders recently gazetted and are now effective throughout the Dominion.

The ceiling retail price which may be charged for canned fresh green peas in lloz containers is 10jd. and for 16oz containers Is. The price for 21 and 220 z containers o a eked by three of the ranning firms is Is sd. and for the same sized cans packed by another firm ft is Is 4d For 30oz containers the price is Is 9d. and :alf-gallon containers are 3s. Provision is made for retailers’ transport costs, the maximum addition allowed being jd for 11 .nd 16oz cans, and Id for 22 30oz cans. The maximum retail prices for canned fresh green beans are:—lloz containers packed by three canning firms lOjd. and packed by another firm 10d; 16oz containers. Is. 21 and 22cz containers Is 4jd. half-gallon containers 3s and one gallon containers ss. Additions for transport costs are allowed on the same basis'as for peas.

SYDENHAM MONEY CLUB

Mr H. B. Duckworth, chairman of directors. presided at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Sydenham Money

Club. In moving the adoption of the report and accounts the chairman said that the club had experienced a satisfactory year and in all departments the club’s business showed steady progress. Cash receipts during the year were £86,085 and payments were £78,534. Subscriptions and loan repayments amounted to £67.875, withdrawals were £28,648, while the total assets now amounted to £165,475 During the year £47,725 was advanced on mortgage securities. It was resolved that the balance standing to the credit of the profit and loss appropriation account be utilised in maintaining the dividend of 32 per cent, plus a “victory bonus” of 1 per cent. The sum of £lOOO Will be added to the reserve fund, £2OO to the dividend equalisation account and the balance will be carried forward. The following officers were re-elected : directors, Messrs H. B. Duckworth (chair-

man), O. Jaccbsen (vice-chairman), F J Jacobsen. P. W. Miller. T. H. Munro, and D. V. Wilson; auditors. Messrs E. R. Caygill and R de G. Robilliard.

ST. ANDREWS ■“The Press Special Service TIMARU, February 28. The yarding of approximately 35 head of fat cattle at the St Andrews sale was made up of average to prime sorts. Competition was steady to keen throughout, and values were firm.
