CHARGE OF BREAKING AND ENTERING , J' he _ Geoffrey William Fisher (Mr E. M. Hay) continued yesterday in ?HP re ’P e Court before .the Chief Justice (the Rt Hon. Sir Michael Myers) and a Jury. The accused was charged with b J ea *S* n ® an< * entering the counting-house of Frederick William Stevens and committing theft, and of stealing £ll7 16s 9d, the property of Stevens. The evidence was not strong, said his Honour, and although the jury might have a strong suspicion that the accused was guilty, it would be dangerous to convict. as mere suspicion was insufficient to warrant a conviction. After a short retirement the jury returned with a verdict of not guilty. When Fisher was later charged with breaking and entering the counting-house of Beath and Company. Ltd., with intent to commit a crime, he pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentence.
