Permanent Investment Association.— Profit of £5374 and a balance brought forwar of £582 are reported by the directors of the Permanent Investment and Loan Association of Canterbury in the report to be presented at the seventy-fifth annual meeting on February 25. An interim dividend of 2 per cent, was paid on July 31, and a final dividend of 3 per cent, on January 31, these absorbing £5OOO. Of the balance in the profit and loss account, £5OO has been added to the reserve fund (£21,000) and £455 has been carried forward. Retiring directors eligible for reelection are Messrs Godfrey Hall and J. W. K. Lawrence.'

Christchurch Gas Company.~A sum of £20,926 in the profit and loss accountprofit £16,689, and £4237 brought forward—is reported by the directors of the Christchurch Gas, Coal, and Coke Company, Ltd., in the report for the eighty-second annual meeting on February 26. A dividend of 3 per cent is recommended, which, with the interim dividend of 2 per cent, already paid, will absorb £18,035. Retiring directors eligible for re-election are Messrs A M. Satterthwaite and D. W. J. Gould.

Martha Gold.—The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi), Ltd., for the period ended Feoruary 2:—active operations were resumed on January 14 and 2417 tons of ore were crushed for 708 oz of fine gold and 4270 z of fine silver.
