BEER PRODUCTION IN AUSTRALIA

(R®c. 11.30 p.to.) CANBERRA, Feb. 15. Restrictions on the production of beer are expected to be lifted by the Federal Cabinet at a meeting on March 4. Cabinet Ministers said to-day that the restrictions were imposed as a war-time measure at the height of the invasion threat and were designed to provide additional manpower. Lifting the restrictions will not mean an immediate increase in supplies of beer because of the shortage of hops, sugar, barley, and fuel. A Customs Department report places the blame for restricted beer supplies on the shortage of ingredients and not the continuance of the restrictions.
