HIGHWAY THROUGH THE PARK

Sir,—Our parks and gardens should be very jealously guarded against alienation, interference, or vandalism, as Christchurch Is dependent on them for most of its charm, having few natural beauties. The pioneers truly saw visions. Why should sye dream nightmares—worse still, perpetrate them?-—Yours, etc., EVELENE C. HENN AH.

February 13, 1946. Sir,—l wish to express my approval of the attitude you have taken up. To suggest that the pioneers’ wise intention in dedicating this park should be set at naught is surely bad enough; but-to claim as a reason for doing so that this will honour and perpetuate their memory is about the most absurd thing one could imagine.—Yours, etc., BREACH OF TRUST. February 12, 1946.
