NEW REPUBLIC IN CHINA
EASTERN INNER MONGOLIA
BANNER WITH HAMMER AND SICKLE
(Rec. 8.30 p.m.) CHUNGKING. Feb. 10. The “World Daily News” of Chungki •* reports that “Eastern Inner Mongolia” has proclaimed its independence and chosen a Mongolian graduate of the Russian Military Academy as its leader at a national assembly. The pewspaper adds that since the Japanese surrender, the regime, “financed by a certain country, has established the Eastern Mongolian Autonomous Republic and selected a flag with a hammer and a sickle.” The Associated Press notes that the area of the new republic is not given. Chinese Communists are strongly entrenched in the eastern Mongolian province, Charar. lying between Manchuria and Outer Mongolia. Charar has already declared its independence and been recognised by Chungking.
