AUSTRIA BANS HAPSBURGS
ARREST ON CROSSING FRONTIER MONARCHIST SOCIETIES PROHIBITED (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 9. The Austrian Government has issued an order that any member of the Hapsburg family found on Austrian soil is to be arrested, says Reuter’s Vienna correspondent. The fact that they are wearing foreign uniform will not protect them. The order applies especially to the Tyrol, Vorareberfe, and Leichenstein, It was issued in agreement with the French authorities.
The British military authorities in Carinthia have banned the Legitimist Association, which is campaigning for
the return of the Hapsburgs. The funds of the Legitimist Association have been handed over to the Austrian Government for relief work.
The Democratic Rartv was recently banned because of monarchist connexions. Large stocks of Nazi material, arms, and ammunition were found in the party headquarters. The leader is under arrest awaiting trial.
