The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorologica; Office, Wellington, and dealing with tne 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: An anti-cyclone east of New Zealand is moving away. A depression in the south-west Tasman Sea is moving rapidly eastward. The forecast to 5 p.m. is for north-easterly winds, becoming strong on parts of the coast. Weather fair to fine and mild. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to moderate, variable winds; north-easterlies predominating. Weather fine at first, but cloud increasing and scattered rain developing later in the south. Temperatures mild to warm. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch during the week-end was fine, with showers of rain on Saturday afternoon, after a strong north-west wind in the morning. Yesterday was warm and sunny after a frost of two degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and there was a fresh north-east wind. The barometer, at 30.35 inches (1027.8 millibars) was falling slowly.
