THE FORGOTTEN GENERATION

Sir, —At last we have a hint that our boys of J force might be leaving Italy for Japan about the middle of February. In November the soldiers were instructed to tell their parents and friends to write to a new address, A.P.O. 222, which was no doubt intended for Japanese waters. Our sons in letters complain -bitterly of Christmas mails being very scanty and suggest that this may be due to the new address. Some parents addressed alternately to Italy and Japan. The writer had three sons on active service. one killed on the Continent, one returned after five years, and the youngest now with the J Force. While some of our M.P.’s are enjoying their Christmas our loved ones are without letters and on reduced rations.— Yours, etc., WONDERFUL. January 8, 1946.
