ARMY FORMED IN AZERBAIJAN
REPORT BY PERSIAN OFFICERS
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, January 7. “Persian Army officers arriving in Teheran from the northern province of Azerbaijan report that the Government which the Democrat Party has established in Azerbaijan is forming an army of 100,000 men, recruited among former soldiers of the Persian Army, Azerbaijanians, ' and also Caucasians and Armenians,” says Reuter’s Teheran correspondent.
“The officers stated that this was being done to prevent reprisals by the’ Persian Government when the Russian troops are evacuated on March 2.”
