Advice has been received that T/Cpl. K. E. Twomey, son of Mrs M. V. Khouri, 45 Totara road, has been awarded the Military Medal. Advice has been received by Mrs E. Gibson that her son, Squadron Leader T. P. Gibson, D.F.C., R.A.F., who has been in the Royal Air Force for«<he last eight years, has accepted a temporary position with a civil air line flying to Buenos Aires. He hopes to be back in New Zealand about the middle of the year.
Mr G. A. Hesselyn, of 35 Rosebery street, Spreydon, has received cabled advice from London that his son, Flight Lieutenant R. B. Hesselyn, D.F.C., D.F.M. and bar. was awarded the M.B.E. in the New Year Honours. Flight Lieutenant Hesselyn, who has accepted a permanent commission in the Royal Air Force, had 211 enemy aeroplanes to his credit. He was shot down in October, 1943, and liberated from a German prison camp last year.
