Imprisonment for Desertion.—A sentence of 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour has been imposed on Private Maurice Joseph Herk, aged 27, on a charge of desertion, by a district court-martial. Herk, who pleaded guilty to the charge that he had absented himself from Glen Bervie camp, North Auckland, on December 27, 1942, was arrested in civilian clothes in Auckland on November 23, 1945. (P.A.) St. Albans School Sports.—The annual sports of the St. Albans School were held recently. Alan Ferris won the boys’ championship, and the girls’ championship was won by Joan Condor.
