A/F/O. Russell Francis, Watmate Appreciative reference to the recent presentation of "Quality Street" by pupils of the Christchurch Girls’ High School was made by the •chairman of the Canterbury University College Council tMr J. H. E. Schroder), who presided at the school’s annual prizegiving held yesterday. “I feel that, if Barrie is to go on being performed, he should be performed by people of your age,’’ said Mr Schroder. The atmosphere of unreality in Barrie, v.’hich became so evident when his plays were performed by older players, did not appear when ihev were performed by young players. Mr Schroder said. Lately it had become a pastime among headmasters to compute statistical records of the many staff changes during recent years, said Mr-J. H. E. Schroder, who presided at the Christchurch West High School prize-giving ceremony last evening. This was a teal adversity in the face of which excellent work had been done. The only answer as to how these miracles •were achieved in spite of such disturbances appeared to be in the loyal co-operation of the headmaster, staff, ggjjLfS* U cha £ g6s J m h j« staff in the last live years, he added.
