Wellington, and dealing with the - r - hours following the time of issue, is as follows Situation: Tpere is a depression south-east of the South Island and an anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate southwesterly winds. Weather fair, apart from isolated showers on Banks Peninsula. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— .'Moderate variable winds. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was unsettled Yesterday, with light variable winds. There was a thunderstorm during the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 83.3 degrees. ■At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy with a light westerly wind. The barometer w f as steady at °9 74 inches (1007.1 millibars).
