FOURTH ROUND ENDED The fourth round of the Suburban Cricket Association’s competitions was concluded on Saturday. Rain having caused play to be postponed-on the first senior and junior grade matches were confined to one day’s play. Results: SENIOR A GRADE New Brighton 199 (Buxton 65 not out. Bishop 36, Cullen 33. A. Cockle 22) beat Matchess 146 (Spicer 24, Fraser 79) by 53 runs. For Matchless. Spicer took three for 39; and for New Brighton, F. Campbell took four for 43. Working Men’s Club 136 for nine wickets declared (Gordon 62 not out) drew with Shirley 84 for seven wickets. For Shirley. Cooper took three for 25, and Wentworth four for 43; and for W.M.C., Gilroy took three for 11. and Smith three for 33. Beckenham 133 for seven wickets declared (McCree 51, Colombus 28) beat St. Albans 81 (Forward 37) and 110 (Pahl 29, Dobbs 28 not out) by 52 runs on the" first innings. For Betkenham, Griffiths tooksix for 46. Colombus three for 19, and Weatherhead three for 26; and for St. Albans, Dobbs took three for 30. Merlvale 114 for five wickets declared (Haase 45, Davidson 23 not out) drew with Harewood 40 for four wickets. Marathon 166 (H. Adams 40. Sloane 38, Kirk 35 not out) beat S. reydon 69 (Kiddey 30) by 97 runs. For Marathon, Good* yer took six for 26, and H. Adams three for 13. Waltham* 141 (R. Cooke 33. Cole 29, Gordon 29) beat Railway 92 (Wilson 26) by 49 runs. For Waltham, Anderson took four for 31, and Rayner five for 54. For Railway. Angus took four for 32. and Hood five for 52. SENIOR B GRADE Riccarton 221 for six wickets declared (Feary 132) beat Marathon 31 and 65 for six wickets, by 190 runs on the first innings. For Riccarton, Eric Timms took six for 11, and Rax worthy four for 22. Beckenham 132 (Mclndoe 24) beat Working Men’s Club 21 and 67 by an innings and 34 runs. Fo* Beckenham, James took six for 17 and seven for 27; and tor Working Men’s Club. Clarke took three for 25. Watersiders 77 beat Sunnyside 64 (Chlnnery 42 not out) by 13 runs. For Watersiders, Hannlgan took five for 13 (including the hat-trick); and for Sunnyside. Thompson took six for 23. JUNIOR A GRADE ' Waltham 166 (Clarke 70. Barnes 39) beat Sumner 141 (Davidson 67 not out, Pimm 33) by 25 runs. For Waltham, Bailey took four for 50 and for Sumner Reid took three for 20, and Davidson three for 28. Tramways, 92 for six wickets (Buchanan 23) beat Shirley 89, by four wickets. For Tramway, Downing took three for 31.
JUNIOR B GRADE Spreyddn, 64 and 107 (Holmes 31) beat Harewood, 51 and 63 for six wickets, by 13 runs on the first innings. For Spreydon. Hartley took six for 30 and Holmes three for. 14, and for Harewood Cains took five for 28 and O’Neill three for 13. Waltham 200 for three wickets declared (Fergus 76 not out. Perry 49) heat Northcote 82 (Walker 27) by 118 runs. For Waltham, Jones took five for 33, and Fergus five for 19. Heathcote 162 tor eight wickets declared (Young 78) drew with Templeton. 79 for three wickets (Meyer 29, Chatterton 26 not out). For Heathcote, Lang took two for 14 and for Templeton Chatterton took three for 38. THIRD A GRADE Beckenham 151 (Farmer 39, Hendy 37) beat Barnet Glass 89 (Washington 55) by 62 runs. For Barnet Glass, Washington took four for 47. Lyttelton R.S.A. 129 (Wilson 53) beat Enterprise 119 (Herd 47) by 10 runs. For Lyttelton, Wilson took four for 18. and for Enterprise Herd took six for 63. Perrys 177 (Clark 44, Ward 43, Moran 41) beat Lane, Walker, Rudkin 57 (Calvert 26), by 118 runs. For Perrys. Ward took four for 14. Matchless 88 beat I.M.D. 63 and 27, by 25 runs on the first innings. For Matchless, Flattery took six for 18. THIRD B GRADE Beckenham 56 for seven wickets declared (Lye 23). and 44 for one wicket (Lye 32 not out) beat Northcote 50 and 43, by nine wickets. For Beckenham, Scapens took seven for 14 (including the hat-trick, and Christiansen four for 16, and for Northcote )3der took five for 21. , Working Men's Club 102 (Falcon 35, Burford 31 not out) beat Tramways 78 (Lulham 21) by 24 runs. For Working Men's Club Cunningham took six for 26, and for Tramways Lulham took four for ID. Waltham, 281 for nine wickets declared (Smitheram 111 retired, Jackson 34 not out) beat Marathon 23 and 48, by an innings and 210 runs. For Waltham, Dacre took six for 19 (including the hat-trick, Jackson three for 9 and Smitheram three for 1. Hal swell 65 and 45 for two wickets (Streeter 28) beat Merivale 40 and 65 (Drake 28) by eight wickets. For Merivale. Gallaher took five for S, and for Halswell Skinner took five for 7 and Streeter three for 25. THIRD C GRADE Templeton beat Durock by default. St. Albans beat Shirley by default. Green’s 101 beat Heathcote 6 and 29, by an Innings and 66 runs. OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND DRAW (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 9. The Interprovincial cricket match between Otago and Southland was concluded yesterday and resulted In a draw. Otago made 197 and 74 (Overton, six for 13) and Southland scored 152 and 49 for five wickets (Silver, two for 22; Freeman, three for 19).
