Jack Daly was first favourite on the place totalisator In the St. Kilda Handicap at Forbury, but he did not flatter the judgment of his supporters at any the race and was n mth to cross the line at the finish. Only a four-vear-old. Jack Daly has shown some ability in his earlier races, and under C, S. Donald’s care he may come right later in the season. Had Every Chance D. C. Watts always had Lucky Meg well placed in the Forbury Handicap, but after following the pacemaker. Pencarrow. into the straight, she did not hmsh on as expected and was beaten Into fifth place. Paraded again in the Victory Handicap, she was never further back than fifth, and with five furlongs to - go I yi as flowing Lord Peterson, Czardas, 1 Mandrake, and Volo Audubon. The last two tired as the straight was reached, and Lucky Meg finished on for third money behind Lord Peterson and Czardas. By the New Zealand Cup winners Lucky Jack, from the American importation, Famine, Lucky Meg's breeding attracts attention to her prospects. Stopped Quickly Quartermaster set a smart pace over the early part of the Spring Handicap, but he was labouring with a round to go and finished well back. The Quite Sure— Roxanne gelding was a winner over a mile and a half at the Forbury Park meeting on October 13, but after Saturday’s dislittle a PP eal fo races beyond that distance. Confidently Supported ®®r K. H. Smith’s Pointsman was sent out 1-2 in the betting on’the Otago Handicap, and he justified his support bv acting as runner-up to Dandy Grattan. Driven by R. Donald, he began well to outside of Nelsonova.. just behind Dandy Grattan, but he could make no impression on the latter In the straight A big gelding by Jack Potts from Broad Haven, which was bred by Mr A Rice Clarkvllle, he should soon atone for this defeat. » Trials at New Brighton The Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association proposes to hold a series of trials on .the New Brighton Trotting Club’s course on December 13.
